The award winning W Series is the entry level option in the HD1080 range, capable of 1080p. It also features BRAVIA Engine and Live Colour Creation to give the ultimate high definition experience.
BRAVIA HD1080p
BRAVIA HD1080p models are also HD-ready, but have a higher resolution of a massive 6.2 megapixels that brings everything to life. Images are smoother, more detailed and more realistic. It’s like watching the world through an open window.
Three factors combine to make the BRAVIA HD1080p range unique:
- True 1080p resolution for Blu-ray – the BRAVIA screen can display the full quality of 1080p High Definition Blu-ray Disc™, the next generation format for High Definition movies. 1080i TVs display only half the 1080p picture at once, so the picture is not as smooth.
- BRAVIA ENGINE EX / PRO – only the W3000 40" - 52" and X 40"-70"HD1080p BRAVIA televisions and the VPL-VW200 BRAVIA projector feature one of these powerful picture enhancement technologies.
- No superfluous rescaling – HD1080p BRAVIA televisions andprojectors recognise 1080 signals automatically and do notrescale them, as some other televisions do. Superfluous re-scalingleads to loss of pixels and picture quality.
BRAVIA Engine EX
In addition to BRAVIA Engine features, BRAVIA Engine EX also has further noise reduction, super enhanced contrast and advanced natural colour. It also features Digital Reality Creation (DRC), which upscales standard definition inputs by quadrupling the number of pixels in the image source to create HD picture quality.
10 bit Panel
The new W3000 Series BRAVIA televisions feature Sony’s state-of-the-art 10-bit LCD panel technology that surpasses the achievements of conventional 8-bit panels to set a new standard for smooth and natural colour gradation. Our LCD
panels already deliver dynamic contrast and a 178° viewing angle.When combined with the unique Wide Colour Gamut backlight (WCG-CCFL), our new 10-bit panel now reproduces remarkable gradation across a 30% wider colour spectrum. This gives your picture a beautifully natural quality, with incredibly smooth transitions between dark and light shades of colour.
24p True Cinema
Sony's new 24p True Cinema technology means the original 24 frames per second are played just as the camera first recorded them. You see – and hear – exactly what you should.
Live Colour Creation
Live Colour Creation combines circuitry, backlight and a colour filter to create a picture which is more realistic and a natural fit to the human eye, the result is deeper greens and deeper reds. The consumer benefit is that you can see 30% more colours with ‘Live Colour Creation’.
